I tried to build Intel 82845G Graphics Controller driver from source, to install on Puppy Linux 5.2.8. The install.sh
build script had complained about missing compiler, but I quickly solved it by installing the development package. But then, I ended up with this error:
DIRECT RENDERING OPEN SOURCE PROJECT - DRIVER INSTALLATION SCRIPT
[ http://dri.sourceforge.net ]
==========================================================================
The script will now compile the agpgart module and DRM kernel modules
for your machine.
Press ENTER to continue or CTRL-C to exit.
Compiling new agpgart module...
ERROR: AGPGART module did not compile

ERROR: Kernel modules did not compile
The DRI drivers can not be installed without the latest kernel modules.
Installation will be aborted. See the dri.log file for information on
what went wrong.
Here is the whole content of dri.log
:
make -C /lib/modules/2.6.33.2/build SUBDIRS=/mnt/sdb1/dripkg/agpgart-2.0 modules
make: *** /lib/modules/2.6.33.2/build: No such file or directory. Stop.
make: *** [default] Error 2
Makefile.linux:151: *** Cannot find a kernel config file. Stop.
Version 5.2.8 of Lucid Puppy comes with kernel 2.6.33.2. Puppy has a tradition of stripping everything down, and I suspect something missing resulted in this error.

You are missing kernel development headers. That driver should already be present in the kernel.
