my ubuntu keyboard some times adds and extra slash when i type the 'h' character it brings '/h' instead and also w/hen i press t/he fn key it types a 6 instead. im wondering if anyone has encountered t/his problem or knows how to fix it. im using ubuntu 16.04

Do you mean slash-h/hor backslash-hh? Does your system's idea of your keyboard match the reality of what you're using? Can you borrow another keyboard to check it's not a hardware issue?

Do you have numlock on, perhaps? Is this a laptop keyboard with no dedicated number keys? Although that should only print the/and not the/h. Please try with another keyboard (or try the same keyboard on another computer if it's an external keyboard). Also, open a terminal, runxevand then press thehkey and tell us what the output is.
