I installed Kubuntu on my HP Spectre x360 2019 version recently and came across a problem where every time I use the stylus, the touchscreen gets disabled but does not get re-enabled after lifting it off the screen.
Prior to installing Kubuntu, I tested it by running a live version of the OS and the same issue appeared but I was able to fix it by manually enabling the touchscreen using xinput enable [ID]
. However, after the installation, the touchscreen is not listed when I run xinput -list
and due to this can't enable the touchscreen (the touchscreen does work again after a reboot). Below is the output of xinput
:
⎡ Virtual core pointer id=2 [master pointer (3)]
⎜ ↳ Virtual core XTEST pointer id=4 [slave pointer (2)]
⎜ ↳ ELAN2514:00 04F3:2809 id=8 [slave pointer (2)]
⎜ ↳ SYNA327E:00 06CB:CD4F Touchpad id=10 [slave pointer (2)]
⎜ ↳ ELAN2514:00 04F3:2809 Pen (0) id=16 [slave pointer (2)]
⎣ Virtual core keyboard id=3 [master keyboard (2)]

↳ AT Translated Set 2 keyboard id=13 [slave keyboard (3)]
↳ HP Wireless hotkeys id=14 [slave keyboard (3)]
↳ HP WMI hotkeys id=15 [slave keyboard (3)]
I tried enabling basically everything under and including "Virtual core pointer" by using the command xinput enable [2,4,8,10]
I did find another fix which I believed required me to mess around with the kernel. I would like to avoid that if I could as I am not too experienced with linux.
Please let me know what I could try to fix it either through xinput or by any other means. Thanks in advance.
