I have a client and server of SSH in a network, and both are running Debian 9 + LXDE. Then I did the following:

  • Connect the client with the server via file manager:
PCManFM > Go > Connect to Server > SSH

  • Create a new text file or select an existing one.

  • Right click on such file and open with Leafpad.

  • Do some edit and then save.

In my case, the file always ends empty (0 bytes), which can cause serious headache depending on what kind of data you have just lost.

Curiously, if you do the same with Mousepad or via terminal + nano, then there is no such issue (ie: the file will be correctly saved).

Question

  • Is this behavior expected? Why?

  • Any workaround to fix Leafpad?
