My laptop has Windows 10 installed, I bought a SSD and installed Ubuntu on it. I want to start Ubuntu when the external SSD is plugged in and start Windows 10 otherwise.
I tried changing the boot order from the BIOS Menu so the external SSD boots first, the problem is that if I change the order so that my internal SSD boots first, there's a quick message that appears: System BootOrder not found and it keeps bootlooping. I have to plug in my external SSD, set the BIOS order so that 'Ubuntu' boots first (which is strange, shouldn't it be the external SSD?) , then the gnu grub console appears. I have to type in exit , then I can choose whether to start Windows BootLoader Manager or Windows BootLoader Recovery (something like that) or Ubuntu. I've already tried bootrec /fixboot and other solutions that I found online to similar problems, but they didn't fix anything.
It would be great if someone could help me, I don't know how to fix it anymore.
