I was trying to prevent xfinitywifi from automatically connecting (I have Google Fiber). And followed the advice found here:
https://www.linuxquestions.org/questions/linux-newbie-8/how-to-prevent-comcast-infinity-from-bumping-me-off-my-router-4175615184/

The code I executed:

cd /etc/NetworkManager/system-connections

sudo rm {wifi_accesspoint_name}

The {} changed to {xfinitywifi}. I geuss I screwed up by including the braces. Anyhow I got an error message, then exit'ed.

This removed my wifi name; perhaps because it was the one I was using when executing the above commands. I can still access the internet, it's just that I don't see my wifi when I click on the wifi icon (in the taskbar).
