Der 1939 geborene Schweizer Komponist, Oboist und Dirigent Heinz Holliger zieht mit einer großen sechsteiligen Schumann-Edition
die Summe seiner Erfahrungen. Gemeinsam mit dem WDR Sinfonieorchester Köln erarbeitet er für audite eine Gesamtaufnahme
der Orchesterwerke ohne Vokalsolisten. Gerade sind die CDs Nr. 4 und 5 aus dieser Reihe erschienen, mit konzertanten Werken
für Violine und Klavier. Außerdem mit dem Konzertstück für vier Hörner und Orchester - und das ist nun ein Schumann, der
alle Klischees widerlegt, er könne nicht instrumentieren, sein Orchestersatz ist zu dick, und die Farben der einzelnen Instrumente
kämen nicht genug zur Geltung. Holliger betont vielmehr, wie erfindungsreich und experimentierfreudig Schumann vorgegangen
ist, ja, wie avanciert diese Partitur sogar ist. Das fängt schon mit den vier Soloinstrumenten an: Schumann komponierte sein
Konzertstück für das moderne Ventilhorn, das damals noch sehr umstritten war. Und er kostet die Möglichkeiten dieser Neuerfindung
genüsslich aus, etwa wenn er das erste Horn in die exponierte Höhenlage führt, wenn er mit humoristischen Schleifern arbeitet
oder wenn er das etwas maschinenhafte Moment dieses Instruments betont. Schumanns Konzertstück markiert nämlich einen musik-
und kulturgeschichtlichen Wendepunkt (swr.de)
