Question: What do I need to do to make Buster connect to the NAS through SAMBA?
Details: Sorry, I don't know what information is relevant so I'll try to give everything. I just installed Debian 10 Buster on my laptop and have an Asus RT-AC5300-9620 router with a NAS that works through SAMBA. I use the default router OS and have the latest firmware. The router's FAQ said Windows 10 users need to install SAMBA 1. My Windows 10 desktop computer can connect to it through ethernet after installing SAMBA 1. My Android phone can connect to it through wi-fi with SAMBA using the X-plore app. The laptop can connect to the NAS using Windows 10 with SAMBA 1 and wi-fi.
Using GNOME I click "Places" on the top bar and chose "Browse Network". A file window comes up with icons labeled "RT-AC5300-9620" (the router) and Windows Network. Clicking the router's icon brings up the folders in the NAS's root directory. Clicking "Windows Network" takes me to the same router icon then the same folders. Double clicking the folder opens a window asking me "Password required for share [foldername] on [routername]" There's "Connect As" with a radio button for "Anonymous" and "Registered User". Anonymous just closes the window and brings it back again. If i chose "Registered User" then I can enter the "Username", "Domain" (which is set to "WORKGROUP")and "Password". No matter what I enter the window just closes and reopens when I click Connect or press the enter key. If I click the "Cancel" button at the top instead of "Connect" the window closes and reopens. This happens several times while clicking "Cancel" before it goes way.
