Docker image files distributed on Docker Hub can have different packages already installed. Can I run any image file on my up-to-date 64 bit Lubuntu 18.04?
Does a Docker image file require anything about the host Linux OS that can run a container from the image?
For example, does an image have requirement on theLinux kernel version of a host?
Anything else?
Does Docker Hub provides the requirements on host for each docker image file?
For example, https://hub.docker.com/_/couchbase?tab=description says
Container Requirements
Official Couchbase Server containers on Docker Hub are based on Ubuntu
14.04.
Does it imply anything about running on other Linux distribution, or on what Linux kernel version?
Thanks.

I think it Depends on specific image, I mean, you can't call high version specific syscall on a low version kenerl, since it's sharing the same kernel with the host.
