I just upgraded Linux kernel (from 3.10 to 4.14), and now mmcblk rootfs partition as mmcblk1 (while in the older kernel in mmcblk0).
I would have assumed that things should yet boot correctly from grub, but now kernel fails to mount root and can't find rootfs, although root is given as root=UUID=....
Only if I manually edit grub to contain root=/dev/mmcblk1p3
, than it shall boot correctly.
Everything was updated accordingly when doing make install
for compilation and install of new kernel (I verified that grub2.cfg and initramfs was updated)
So, Why doesn't kernel find rootfs with the given root=UUID=....
and requires me to manually update grub.cfg ?
kernel grub2 grub root-filesystem
