To enable Secure Boot in the B250 PC MATE motherboard I had to do the following after upgrading to Debian 10:

  1. Run sudo apt install shim-signed grub-efi-amd64-signed and reboot.

  2. Enter the UEFI settings* by pressing F11 during booting.

  3. Go to Advanced->Windows OS Configuration.

  4. There enable "Windows 8.1/10 WHQL Support". A Secure Boot entry appears.

  5. Change Secure Boot to enabled. It displays the error:

    Platform in Setup Mode!

Secure Boot can be enabled when Platform is in User Mode. Repeat operation after enrolling Platform Key(PK).

  6. Change Secure Boot Mode to Standard to Custom and then back from Custom to Standard and confirm the message that appears. If you don't do this it will boot but Secure Boot will be disabled (checked with mokutil --sb-state).

*It's called "Click BIOS" a "UEFI BIOS solution", not sure what that is exactly but likely it's just UEFI.

Now the problem is that it doesn't boot. It just shows a black screen and once the MSI logo.

I could only boot again and have GRUB ask for my GRUB password when disabling it. Is there a way to enable Secure Boot with Debian with this mainboard?

Enabling Secure Boot worked perfectly fine with another mostly identical Debian computer with another mainboard.
