I'm SSHing into an arch-linux instance. The account in question uses the ZSH shell. When I type characters I get an inconsistent repetition of characters. It looks like this. As you can see, the command actually works, so it's not repeated on the host:

It looks like a kind of local echo. Does anyone know why this might be happening and how it can be fixed?

  • Outside of ssh, it is normal. Interestingly if I ssh and specify -t bash the repeated characters stop. I'm not sure how to interpret that.
