I have deleted the /etc/fstab file purposely. How is my machine still booting up normally?
I think it is using intiramfs but once the kernel starts the init process is forked, then it should crash or throw some errors as init reads /etc/fstab.
can anyone please explain what actually is happening??
thanks

It really depends on your initramfs and the init system you're using(possible your kernel arguments). Especially when you only have one single file system for /, fstab is possibly not needed
