When I create my own binaries and executable scripts, is the $HOME/.local/bin
the preferred convention or should I still be placing them in $HOME/bin
?
Putting them into .local/
would help to de-clutter my home directory but I'm not sure if .local/
should be considered the domain of applications with bin/
being where I place things that I've authored myself.
My question is, specifically, is the $HOME/.local/
path convention meant to complement or supplement traditional paths such as bin/
and others?
